Cellist Zuill Bailey is an engaging, charismatic American artist; a powerful performer who dazzles audiences with his command of the cello, both technically and artistically. His performances encompass concerts with orchestra, recitals and chamber music in the U.S. and abroad. Summer 2000 was highlighted by an engagement at the Ravinia Festival, where, on short notice, Mr. Bailey stepped-in to play Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major for an indisposed Heinrich
Schiff. Mr. Bailey returns to Ravinia for a recital on the Rising Stars Series later this season. Additional engagements in the 2000/01 season and beyond include concerto performances in a varied repertoire with the Dallas Symphony, the Arkansas Symphony, the Washington Chamber Symphony and a re-engagement with the the Napa Valley Symphony, among others. He performs the Beethoven cycle in Arkansas and plays various works on an extensive recital tour of the U.S., primarily in the Midwest in a series of concerts in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. He also appears in a recital for national broadcast on NHK (New Hong Kong) TV in Japan and is a guest at the Manchester Cello Festival in England. Among Mr. Bailey’s chamber music engagements are performances at the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, the University of Colorado, Wolf Trap, Virginia and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Florida.
